Crozet, as it is known today, was originally called “Wayland’s Crossing” but was renamed in 1870 after Claudius Crozet, designer of the Blue Ridge Tunnel, a railroad tunnel that was the longest of its kind at the time of its completion in 1858.

Located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Crozet real estate boasts some of the best natural scenery anywhere in the United States. It is home to two major public parks, Crozet Park and Mint Springs Valley Park, as well as Beaver Creek Lake, noted for its wealth of sunfish, channel fish, and largemouth bass.

The surrounding area has multiple wineries, among them King Family, Stinson Vineyard, and White Hall Vineyards.
